Page 2 of 3 The marketplace method (a.k.a. the "free market") has provided humankind and civilization with most of its advances in food, clothing, shelter, comforts, inventions, improvements, art forms, music, cathedrals, etc. Even where government is involved, it is governments use of or acquienscence to the free market that produces most if not all of the products and advances that are subsequently used in the application of the government method. So which method has man employed to achieve that which he values? It appears that throughout history he has most consistently relied on the government process. Worse, he frequently goes to the agents of government and demands that anyone whose value judgements in the marketplace are different from his, or which do not suit his wishes, should be punished or forced to comply with what he desires. This is strangely often the case even among those who have achieved their own success and wealth through the market, there are those who use the fruits of that success to press for wider application of the government method.
