Lesson 1 - Words and Ideas Print E-mail

  

To this problem we must add the ignorant, uninformed, or intentional mis-use of words; usage that blurs, corrupts, and misrepresents the actual or proper meaning of the words we use. Under such circumstances, a meaningful exchange of information and ideas among people becomes hopelessly muddled and confused, and prone to manipulation.

In almost every area of study, and particularly in this one, it is often necessary to begin by carefully clarifying and defining the terms and words that we are using, so that we may proceed with some confidence that the ideas that are being conveyed are understood as intended.
