The only rightful authority that can be ascertained in the world is the authority of a person over what he or she owns. All attempts by some to take that authority away or to exert power or control over others without their consent is a usurpation, and thus a wrongful act. You and you alone own your own person and all extensions of it existing in your property. You are the authority over yourself. You are thus responsible for yourself and your actions. A thief who acts to remove or to interfere with your authority over yourself or over your property is responsible for his act of theft and/or interference. His act of theft is a usurpation and is a violation of the principles of authority and responsiblity. Although he remains responsible for his own actions, including his actions of theft, we often say that the thief acts in an "irresponsible" manner.
